Jason Benzaken - Partner
Jason Benzaken was born and raised in New York City and attended college at Wesleyan University in Connecticut. After college Jason built houses in California for a number of years, and then moved to Massachusetts to attend Northeastern University School of Law.
After graduating law school, Jason worked as a staff attorney for the Committee for Public Counsel Services in the Brockton Superior Court office where Jason carried a heavy caseload of felony criminal cases in the District and Superior Courts. In 2006, Jason left CPCS and opened a law practice focusing on criminal defense at the trial and appellate level. Over the years, Jason expanded his practice to also expand his practice to include administrative law, sex offender registry law, and civil rights litigations. In 2008, Jason joined Joshua Wood, also a former attorney for the Brockton CPCS office, and formed Benzaken and Wood, LLP.
Jason is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts in Massachusetts. Jason regularly appears in the district and Superior courts, the Massachusetts. In 2012 Massachusetts Lawyer’s Weekly awarded Jason with its “Up and Coming” Award at their Excellence in the Law Awards Ceremony.
Joshua Wood - Partner
Joshua Wood graduated from Boston University School of Law in 2004. After graduating from law school, Joshua began his legal career working in the Brockton Superior Court Public Defender office. In 2006, Joshua left the Public Defender office to work for a small Family Law practice on Cape Cod. Since 2008, Joshua has owned a private law practice with Attorney Jason Benzaken. In 2017, Attorney Daniel Alexander joined their practice.
Joshua has tried serious criminal cases in the District and Superior Court, and has litigated complex matters in the Probate and Family Court. Joshua’s work in the trial courts involve criminal representation from arraignment to trial, in all matters from Operating Under the Influence of Liquor to 1st Degree Murder. In the Probate Court, Joshua regularly represents clients in Divorce, Modifications of Divorce Judgment, Child Custody and Support, Paternity, and Guardianship Matters.
From 2010-2014, Joshua was a Licensing Commissioner for the City of Brockton. In 2010, he was on Mayor Linda Balzotti’s Transition Team and later was the Chairman of the Brockton Mayor’s Task Force on Public Safety.
Joshua is currently the President of Pilgrim Advocates, Inc., the non-profit corporation that oversees and administers indigent criminal defense in Plymouth County.
Daniel Alexander - Partner
Daniel Alexander is a lawyer licensed to practice law in the state of Massachusetts. Attorney Alexander specializes in criminal law. As a former prosecutor, Attorney Alexander has handled thousands of cases in Massachusetts's district courts including misdemeanors, OUI's, felonies and civil life commitments and had the opportunity to try many cases to verdict. Attorney Alexander is a graduate of Stonehill College and University of Massachusetts School of Law formerly Southern New England School of Law. After graduation from Stonehill College he worked with the juvenile court while attending law school before becoming a prosecutor. His experience as a trial attorney is what sets him apart from other attorneys.
